Joseph E. Gian-Grasso, DMD
Meet Dr. Gian-Grasso (Retired)
Dr. Joseph E. Gian-Grasso holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, a DMD from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Periodontics from the Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry.
A Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, Dr. Gian-Grasso specializes in the areas of Periodontics and Dental Implantology. He served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Post-Graduate Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine and Clinical Associate Professor of Periodontology at Temple University School of Dentistry.
Dr. Gian-Grasso has served as a trustee of the American Academy of Periodontology for six years. He is a National spokesperson for the American Academy of Periodontology. He served as a Director of the Implantology Center at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He frequently lectures in the areas of Periodontics, Prosthodontics, Dental Implantology, and Reconstructive Periodontics.
Dr. Gian-Grasso has been the recipient of many prestigious dental and periodontology awards, including the Abram Cohen Award, the American Academy of Periodontology Award, the Lactona Award, and the University of Pennsylvania University and Dental Alumni Awards of Merit. He served on the Board of Overseers of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine for sixteen years, and currently serves on the Dean’s Council. He is a past president of the Academy of Osseointegration and the Delaware Valley Academy of Osseointegration, and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the Academy of Osseointegration, and the American Academy of Periodontology.
Dr. Gian-Grasso is past president of the Pennsylvania Society of Periodontists and Philadelphia Society of Periodontology and is also a member or Director of a number of professional, scientific, community, and civic organizations. He has been chosen by his peers as one of America’s Top Dentists by the Consumers’ Research Council of America and is a Philadelphia Magazine “Top Dentist”. Dr. Gian-Grasso retired in 2020.
